The power of Networking

Day 2 of the Nordic SYP 2017 featured a mix of academic and industry events. The day was opened with a lively discussion from Rafal Sliz, IEEE Senior Member and Past-Chair of IEEE Young Professionals, which centered around the importance of leveraging IEEE to build a strong network of like-minded ambitious engineers.

The talk encouraged participants to make the most of the opportunities presented biannually at the Nordic SYP to create lasting networks with professionals not just dedicated to helping advance technology, but also dedicated to finding ways of using improving technology to solve issues in society.

Industry sponsored visit

Next on the agenda was a visit to the Visoriai Information Technology Park, with a focus on nano avionics. The industry sponsored visit gave the women in engineering, young professionals, and student branch members the opportunity to experience work life in a cutting edge technology field.

The trip included a tour of the facility and a presentation on the Company’s focus and goals. One of the main advantages of the Nordic SYP was showcased during this visit. The mutual benefits of industry funding for the IEEE hosted event, and the opportunity for a company to meet driven students from not just the host country, but also neighboring countries.

Gala Dinner

Always a highlight of the Nordic SYP, the Gala dinner took place on the second day. The best opportunity for growing networks, the Gala dinner was hosted in the scenic skybar overlooking picturesque Vilnius.

The fine view from the sky restaurant, mixed with the fine food, provided the perfect atmosphere for building networks and organizing future cross border events. It was a fitting end to a busy second conference day and set the scene for the final day of the conference.
