Welcome to the IEEE Nordic Students and Young Professionals Congress 2019

We warmly invite you to join us at the 3rd IEEE Nordic Students and Young Professionals (SYP) Congress, during the 25th to 27th of October 2019. The IEEE Nordic SYP Congress is a bi-annual event promoting the cooperation and sharing of ideas between the Nordic students, young professionals and women in engineering affinity groups and chapters.

Action packed weekend

This event gives you the unique opportunity to grow your global networks and to get new ideas, to bring to your own work within and outside IEEE.

We will have some very interesting IEEE presentations, workshops, and team building activities to work in groups to get to know each other. We are expecting participants from all across the Nordic and Baltic regions, and also Europe during the action packed weekend.

Sustainability

The theme of the IEEE Nordic SYP Congress 2019 is sustainability. How can young professionals improve sustainability in the future, and what impact will the requirement of improving sustainability have when engineering solutions during our careers?

We will have a great opportunity to listen to interesting presentations and panel-discussions from professionals working in both industry and universities.

Varied Topics and industry visits

Some of the topics to be discussed during the event include:

  • Smart cities
  • Electric vehicles
  • Efficient energy storage
  • Improved energy efficiency
  • Utilizing 5G networks in smart cities

In addition, we will have an opportunity for some exciting industry visits.

International cooperation

What makes this edition of the congress so exciting is the fact that it is co-hosted by the IEEE Sweden and Finland sections for the first time. Therefore, you will have the unique opportunity to see both of the biggest Nordic cities famous for science and innovation, during one weekend, and spend your nights in a cruise ship between those cities!

There are many good restaurants, tax free shops etc. on the boat. You can try the Finnish sauna and swimming pool, or sit on the deck and take a Swedish snaps while watching the beautiful Finnish coast with thousands of small islands pass by!
